Hi, THERE!
I’M HANNAH, THE TEACHER AND CREATOR OF SCHOOL SISTERS MATH
MEET THE CREATOR
I have been a full time math teacher for 8 years and counting! If your teaching experience has been anything like mine, then you can relate to the nerves you felt when signing your first contract, the excitement when entering your classroom, and the dismay and anxiety when finding out that your school district doesn’t provide any curriculum to teach from – just to follow the standards!
That was my experience, and though it was difficult at times (many, many times), it led me to finding my ultimate passion – creating engaging, meaningful math curriculum and tasks to help students discover and connect with math!
I pride myself on my creativity in being able to think like a middle schooler. My motto is, if students can connect with the task, then they can connect with the math! Therefore, I have spent countless hours brainstorming ideas, creating tasks, and fine-tuning every situation and question as I help my students explore math.

My sisters tease me that I’m a nerd for teaching math. Although I will never agree with them, there is definitely some truth to this because I could LITERALLY SPEND HOURS talking about best practices in teaching math!
I honestly am excited when I get to attend a professional development meeting specifically about teaching math. I love love love talking about all things math education! (All other unrelated meetings could be skipped if you know what I mean!
And speaking of sisters, you might be wondering why I chose “School Sisters Math” to brand my resources. I have 4 lovely sisters, two of whom are fellow teachers! After spending years celebrating teaching moments together, commiserating over difficult classroom situations, and bouncing ideas off of each other, my sisters encouraged me to share my resources with the world! If you happen to know any elementary teachers, direct them to “School Sisters Elementary” where my talented sister Megan creates and shares her own engaging elementary school resources!
When I’m not teaching or talking about math, you can usually find me browsing the plant section at Lowe’s, watching “The Office,” or enjoying an evening walk with my dog.
